Hon.Elias Ayinbila Apasiya, has expressed concern about the alarming trend of young individuals who have to be in school are rather engaged in substance abuse, particularly red ,tramadol, and other hard drugs in the region.

Speaking to the media, as a serious increase in drug abuse in this current environment, we have the youth a lot of them engaged in drug pairing, drug abuse and many more.” which is taking a very serious toll on the lives of this youth.

The youth is said to be the future of this country and if the youth at their early age is engaged in illicit drug abuse then there calls for a serious attention because it tells us that the future of this country or system is hanging”.

So issues on drug abuse where the youth is seriously engaged currently should be given the needy attention if not the futureofthiscountry is at stake. “You could have the youth as young as 8-9 years smoking cocaine, marijuana, red and tramadol which this should not be allowed to continue because we are heading towards a doom.

So please, this is a humble appeal especially to the youth, let’s come together, let’s us think of ourselves and see how do we come together to build ourselves, to develop ourselves and at the end of it all, we will develop this country. This is far better than going into drugs”.

Hon. Elias Ayinbila Apasiya urged the youth to consider their education, skills training and engaged in productive business activities as that will transform their lives positively.

“The Lives of this  youth is said to be the future of this country. How do we come together to build ourselves and why do we want to destroy our life, and our future? The youth is the pillar of this country and we love you, we need you and we want you. Let’s try to restrain ourselves and engage in things that will build us for our future, adding that lack of parental care, sometimes could contribute to this kind of attitude and behavior of their children, which sometimes lead them in such activities”.

He appealed to the government to intervene by creating jobs and provide technical and vocational training for the youth in order to help reduce the drug manace.

He urged the youth to engage in innovative approaches to self employment in order to save and reinvest their earnings to build sustainable future, whereas urging parents to be vigilant on their children.

The increasing number of young people succumbing to drug abuse is a call on the relevant authorities to act now, urging the law enforcement agencies to join forces in combating the manace.

The traditional and religious leaders are not excluded in this matter, all are important in this matter in our society. we all are more or less responsible to all that is going on in our environment or Society and therefore, we all have to as a matter of urgency. Therefore. Let’s assume it as our responsibility,he added.
