Tullow Ghana Invests $10 Million in Educational Infrastructure For Senior High Schools

Tullow Ghana Limited has invested $10 million in a 5-year project to improve the educational infrastructure of 15 selected Senior High Schools.

The aim of the project is to construct dormitories and classroom blocks to address the infrastructure deficit in senior high schools across the country.

According to Madam Cynthia Lumor, the Deputy Managing Director at Tullow Ghana Limited, the decision to invest in educational infrastructure was based on research conducted in 2019, which revealed the pressing need for improved infrastructure due to the increase in student population and inadequate dormitory facilities in Ghanaian senior high schools.

Tullow Ghana Limited collaborated with stakeholders in education, including the Ministry of Education, Ghana Education Service, and local communities, to implement this $10 million investment project.

Madam Cynthia Lumor emphasized Tullow Ghana's focus on STEM education to enhance students' abilities in various schools.

During the handover of a completed building at Shama Senior High School, Madam Cynthia Lumor encouraged the students to uphold the school's reputation and focus on their academic work.

She also urged them to take advantage of their potential and strive for excellence. Madam Lumor commended the teachers for their dedication and called on them to continue equipping students with quality education.

The Headmistress of Shama Senior High School, Madam Theresa Dickens, expressed gratitude to Tullow Ghana for the new facility, which includes a science laboratory that has made it more convenient for science students to prepare for their laboratory work.

She pledged to ensure the proper maintenance of the facility and encouraged other corporate bodies and philanthropists to follow Tullow Ghana's example.

Nana Kwamena Wienu II, the Acting President of the Shama Traditional Council, advised the students to embrace discipline, emphasizing its importance in becoming responsible adults and patriotic citizens.

He also encouraged the students to stay informed about technological advancements and appreciated Tullow Ghana for their efforts in promoting education in coastal areas, particularly for completing the significant structure at Shama Senior High School.
