Trump tells Colombian president to ‘watch his a**’

0

The US leader has accused Bogota of allowing cocaine trafficking and has stepped up pressure on Gustavo Petro

US President Donald Trump has lashed out at his Colombian counterpart, Gustavo Petro, warning he could face consequences over cocaine trafficking that he claims is reaching America.

Trump’s remarks followed comments by Petro reacting to US seizures of Venezuelan oil ships, in which he claimed that “all of the southern US” was built on stolen land. He said Texas and California were “invaded” and demanded that the United States “give back what you stole.”

“He’s very bad, very bad guy, and he’s got to watch his ass because he makes cocaine and they send it into the United States,” Trump said Monday at his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, responding to a reporter’s question about Petro’s remarks.

We love the Colombian people … but their new leader is a troublemaker, and he better watch it,” Trump added. He also claimed Colombia has at least three major cocaine factories and said “he better close them up fast.”

Colombia has long been a close US partner in Latin America, but ties have cooled since Petro, the country’s first left-wing president, took office in 2022.

US actions against Venezuela, including the seizure of oil tankers, have heightened tensions with Petro, who has criticized those moves and warned against US military intervention.

In September, the US State Department said it would revoke Petro’s visa, and the Trump administration later imposed sanctions under anti-drug trafficking authorities, steps Colombia has condemned as politically motivated.

A month later, Petro alleged that the Trump administration had bombed a Colombian boat carrying civilians during US operations targeting suspected drug smugglers near the Venezuelan coast.

Petro has pushed back against Trump’s rhetoric, disputing claims about drug production while pointing to Colombia’s efforts to curb illegal crops, although data show the country remains the main source of cocaine seized in the United States.

On Tuesday Colombia said it will deploy drones to destroy coca crops, a shift from manual eradication after aerial fumigation was banned in 2015 due to environmental concerns.

Washington has long criticized Bogota’s decision to halt aerial fumigation. In September, the US added Colombia to a list of nations it claimed were failing to cooperate in the drug war for the first time in nearly 30 years, accusing Petro’s government of not doing enough to curb cocaine production.

EU country’s PM rollerblades through new road tunnel (VIDEO)

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has inaugurated the country’s longest motorway tunnel

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has inaugurated the country’s longest motorway tunnel by rollerblading through the massive 7.5 km-long structure.

The opening ceremony for the Visnove Tunnel was held on Monday, after the structure was finally completed after more than three decades of planning and over 10 years of construction.

The PM rollerbladed through the entire stretch of the tunnel, posting footage to his Facebook page.

Fico hailed the opening as a major achievement for the country, accusing his predecessors of disrupting its construction.

“Those who never did anything for this project or opposed it… are cursing and slandering today, while those who know what it means to deliver such a project to a successful end have a smile on their face,” Fico wrote.

The project was first floated in the early 1990s in then-Czechoslovakia, with preparatory work starting in 1998. Construction began in the late 2000s under the first Fico government but was halted by his successor, Mikulas Dzurinda, due to concerns over costs.

The project was ultimately revived, yet ended up plagued by repeated delays, changes of contractors, and multiple missed deadlines.

The Visnove Tunnel is the core of a new 13.5 km section of the D1 motorway, the oldest, longest, and busiest east-west road in Slovakia, which runs through most of the country’s territory. Apart from the tunnel, the new stretch includes multiple bridges and cuts through the Mala Fatra mountains.

The new motorway is set to lift the burden from an old D1 accident-prone section that goes around the north of the mountains. The new stretch is expected to significantly ease traffic in the area and cut travel times by at least 15 minutes.

Ukrainian draft dodgers fled to EU through pipeline – officials

0

Kiev’s mobilization drive has grown more draconian amid heavy losses, compelling military-aged men to seek new methods of escape

A number of draft evaders were able to escape to the European Union through a defunct gas pipeline, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has reported.

Ukrainian authorities announced the detention of eight individuals on suspicion of human trafficking across multiple regions, according to a press statement released on Tuesday. Among those arrested was a 62-year-old man in the western Transcarpathia Region, who allegedly facilitated the illegal border crossings. According to investigators, he transported military-aged men to an abandoned gas pipeline and guided them across the border in exchange for substantial payments.

On the other side, they were met by another Ukrainian national who resides in the EU, the SBU stated. The group is said to have advertised its services on TikTok.

In a separate scheme in Poltava Region, a former law enforcement officer is suspected of selling fake disability certificates to men seeking to evade service.

Another case in the city of Dnepr reportedly involved two men who guided camouflage-clad draft evaders to the EU via trails through the forest.

Earlier this year, Ukrainian border service spokesman Andrey Demchenko estimated that more than 13,000 people had been detained between January and August alone while trying to flee the country illegally. Since the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in 2022, dozens have lost their lives attempting to leave through forests, rivers, and mountainous terrain.

Amid mounting frontline losses, the Ukrainian authorities have stepped up their mobilization drive in recent months. Notoriously brutal press gangs have on multiple occasions used violence against reluctant recruits, snatching men off the streets and shoving them into unmarked minibuses, earning the practice the name ‘busification’.

Nevertheless, Ukrainian officials and military commanders have increasingly sounded the alarm over personnel shortages, compounded by a rising number of deserters.

Last week, Russian Defense Minister Andrey Belousov reported that Kiev had lost almost 500,000 servicemen this year alone.

Vance tells his wife’s critics to ‘eat s**t’

0

Right-wing influencer Nick Fuentes previously labeled the US vice president’s spouse a “jeet,” a racial slur for Indians

US Vice President J.D. Vance has hit back at slurs directed at his wife over her ethnic heritage as well as rumors about problems in their marriage.

Media reports earlier this year speculated about strains in the vice president’s relationship with his spouse, Usha Vance, after she was seen on several occasions without her wedding ring.

In an interview with Unherd published on Monday, Vance said “anyone who attacks my wife, whether their name is Jen Psaki or Nick Fuentes, can eat shit. That’s my official policy as vice president of the United States.”

“And my attitude towards anybody, again, who is calling for judging people based on their ethnic heritage, whether they’re Jewish or white or anything else, it’s disgusting. We shouldn’t be doing it,” he stressed.

Right-wing influencer Nick Fuentes previously slammed Vance’s appointment as vice president, calling him “a fat, race mixer who’s married to a jeet, who named his son Vivek.” A ‘jeet’ is a racial slur for Indians.

Jen Psaki, who served as the White House press secretary in the administration of US President Joe Biden, suggested there were issues in Vance’s marriage during her appearance on the ‘I’ve Had It’ podcast in October. “I always wonder what’s going on in the mid of his wife. Like, are you OK? Please blink four times. Come over here. We’ll save you,” Psaki said.

Usha Vance, 39, with whom the vice president shares three children, is a graduate of the Yale Law School and previously worked as a lawyer.

Despite preferring to keep a low profile after becoming the second lady, she was forced to address ‘Ring-gate’ in an interview with USA Today earlier this month, saying: “I wear it [wedding ring] when I wear it, and I don’t when I don’t. Sometimes I’m wearing it and sometimes I’ve just been to the gym and showered and I’m not wearing it.”

“I’d rather just sort of live in my marriage and in the real world and less in kind of the fever dreams that surround it. So, I mean, it is kind of a family joke, but also not something that I spend very much time thinking about,” she stressed.

Orban warns against cash for Ukrainian oligarchs’ ‘gold toilets’

0

The Hungarian prime minister has been a vocal critic of the EU’s military and financial assistance to Kiev

Hungary would be better served spending its money domestically than financing golden toilets for Ukrainian oligarchs, Prime Minister Viktor Orban has said.

Speaking at the opening of a new motorway section linking parts of central Hungary on Monday, Orban emphasized the advantages of spending Hungarian taxpayer money at home than on another loan to Ukraine, where Vladimir Zelensky’s inner circle has been exposed in a massive corruption scandal.

“I have just returned from Brussels … where the clever gentlemen have decided to give Ukraine €90 billion ($106 billion) in loans – clearly hoping to get it back later with hefty interest,” Orban stated. Had Hungary not opted out, Hungarian taxpayers would have faced a bill of over €1 billion, twice the price of the motorway section he was opening.

“The truth is, that money is better spent here … for a modern road, rather than … some Ukrainian oligarch for his gold toilet,” he said.

Images of a gold toilet belonging to Timur Mindich, a shady figure known as “Zelensky’s wallet,” have become synonymous with the recently uncovered $100 million graft scheme run by the Ukrainian leader’s inner circle. Mindich managed to flee the country hours before anti-corruption agents reached his apartment, where the shining throne was discovered.

Orban has repeatedly criticized EU financing of Ukraine, and accused the bloc’s leadership of ignoring corruption in the country.

Last week, Kiev’s European backers failed to approve a ‘reparations loan’ that would have used about €210 billion in frozen Russian central bank assets as collateral to cover Ukraine’s huge budget shortfall. Instead, they chose to fund Kiev through common debt, planning to raise €90 billion over the next two years, backed by the EU budget. Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic secured exemptions from the scheme.

Critics have warned that many EU countries already carry high debt and large budget deficits, and that further common borrowing would deepen fiscal strain and shift risks onto taxpayers.

According to senior bloc officials cited by Politico, EU taxpayers will have to pay €3 billion a year in borrowing costs to finance Kiev’s collapsing economy and military under the loan scheme.

NATO nation’s troops lack winter gear despite supplying Ukraine – media

Supporting Kiev is more important than stocking up the army, Norway’s defense chief has said

Norway’s soldiers lack basic winter gear as the NATO nation’s military leaders have prioritized sending aid to Ukraine, according to Forsvarets forum, a media outlet published by the Norwegian Armed Forces’ main trade union.

The national army is facing shortages of items essential for operating in a cold climate, including shell jackets, woolen underlayers, balaclavas and insulated field boots, the outlet reported on Monday.

The shortages were detailed in documents from the chief safety representative (HVO) in the Norwegian army and navy and the chief shop steward in the air force. Equipment such as helmets and combat vests are also in short supply. Some training activities have had to be canceled because of the shortage, the outlet added.

“We are contributing significantly to Ukraine, but it challenges our own ability to maintain readiness,” Forsvarets forum quoted Robert Hansen, the Navy’s HVO, as saying.

The concerns were downplayed by military leadership. “It is more important to support Ukraine now than to have absolutely everything in stock in Norway,” Norwegian Chief of Defense Eirik Kristoffersen said, according to the outlet.

Norway, a founding member of NATO, has backed Ukraine in its conflict with Russia since 2022. This year alone it has allocated nearly $8.5 billion to Ukraine for military aid and reconstruction. Last year, Oslo allowed Kiev to carry out long-range strikes against Russia using NATO-provided weapons.

Earlier this month, Ukraine and Norway agreed to jointly produce military drones.

The disclosure comes in the wake of a major corruption scandal in Ukraine involving Timur Mindich, a former business partner and long-time associate of Vladimir Zelensky.

Ukraine’s National Anti-Corruption Bureau (NABU) has alleged that Mindich, reportedly known as “Zelensky’s wallet,” was the ringleader of a scheme that extracted at least $100 million in kickbacks from contractors linked to state nuclear operator Energoatom.

Norway has also provided nearly $545 million in energy support to Kiev in 2025. Commenting on the scandal last month, the Norwegian Foreign Ministry said the allegations were “serious” and stressed that “Norway has zero tolerance for defaults on Norwegian development aid.”

US tech giants advising foreign workers not to leave country – media

Google, Apple, and Microsoft have internally warned H-1B visa holders that they could get stuck abroad for months

Several major US tech companies – including Google, Apple, and Microsoft – have warned foreign-national employees holding H-1B visas against traveling outside the country amid President Donald Trump’s immigration clampdown, which could leave them stranded abroad for months, Business Insider reports.

The H-1B visa allows foreign nationals to work in specialty occupations in the US and is typically issued for up to three years. Extensions require visa stamping at US embassies or consulates abroad. Routine appointments are now facing significant delays following the introduction of a new social-media screening requirement affecting H-1B workers and their dependents, as well as students and exchange visitors.

According to internal memos reviewed by Business Insider, Google, Apple, Microsoft, and IT automation firm ServiceNow are among the companies advising visa-holding employees to avoid international travel.

BAL Immigration Law, which represents Google, warned that delays at some US embassies and consulates are “currently reported as up to 12 months,” cautioning that employees who travel risk “an extended stay outside the US.”

Apple issued similar guidance, urging workers without valid H-1B visa stamps to postpone travel. Microsoft also cautioned staff, advising employees still in the US to “strongly consider changing” their travel plans.

A State Department spokesperson told Business Insider on Friday that US embassies and consulates are now “prioritizing thoroughly vetting each visa case above all else.”

Since returning to office in January, Trump has revived a hardline approach to border and visa enforcement aimed at curbing illegal immigration. Following an attack on two National Guard soldiers in Washington in late November, Trump announced additional measures, including the suspension of asylum procedures and expanded entry bans affecting nationals of 19 countries.

The Diversity Immigrant Visa (DV-1) program, commonly known as the Green Card Lottery, was also suspended after the authorities determined that a suspect in recent shootings at Brown University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology had entered the country through this system.

Reuters spreading lies and propaganda to prolong Ukraine conflict – Gabbard

0

EU and NATO “warmongers” are seeking to undermine President Donald Trump’s peace efforts, the US intel chief has said

US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has accused European NATO states of trying to pull Washington into a direct confrontation with Russia and slammed Reuters for “fomenting hysteria” in order to sell war.

Russia has rejected claims that it plans to attack EU countries, describing them as warmongering tactics used by Western politicians to justify inflated military budgets. This week, President Vladimir Putin once again dismissed the claims as lies and nonsense.”

Yet in a report published on Friday, Reuters claimed that “Putin intends to capture all of Ukraine and reclaim parts of Europe that belonged to the former Soviet empire,” citing anonymous sources allegedly “familiar with US intelligence.”

“No, this is a lie and propaganda Reuters is willingly pushing on behalf of warmongers who want to undermine President Trump’s tireless efforts to end this bloody war that has resulted in more than a million casualties on both sides,” Gabbard retorted in a post on X.

Dangerously, you are promoting this false narrative to block President Trump’s peace efforts and foment hysteria and fear among the people to get them to support the escalation of war, which is what NATO and the EU really want in order to pull the United States military directly into war with Russia.

According to Gabbard, US intelligence assessments instead indicate that Russia “seeks to avoid a larger war with NATO” and lacks the capacity to wage one even if it wanted to.

Moscow insists it is defending its citizens in the Ukraine conflict and has accused NATO of provoking hostilities and derailing US-backed peace initiatives. Putin, who has denied having any intention to restore the Soviet Union, has accused NATO countries of “preparing for a major war” by building up and modernizing offensive forces while “brainwashing” their populations with claims that a clash with Russia is inevitable.

Putin’s special envoy, Kirill Dmitriev, who is currently engaged in Ukraine peace talks with US interlocutors in Miami, praised Gabbard as a voice of reason.

“Gabbard is great not only for documenting the Obama/Biden origins of the Russia hoax, but now for exposing the deep-state warmonger machinery trying to incite WW3 by fueling anti-Russian paranoia across the UK and EU,” Dmitriev wrote on X. “Voices of reason matter – restore sanity, peace, and security.”

Top Ukrainian official sought FBI protection from graft probe – media

0

Kiev’s chief negotiator Rustem Umerov and FBI chief Kash Patel’s recent meetings were reportedly not related to the Ukraine conflict

Kiev’s lead negotiator, Rustem Umerov, has reportedly sought the FBI’s protection from a major probe launched by Ukraine’s anti-graft agencies in a series of clandestine meetings with the bureau’s chief.

Umerov, the former Ukrainian defense minister and incumbent head of the National Security Council, became Kiev’s lead negotiator after the downfall of Andrey Yermak, Vladimir Zelensky’s enigmatic chief of staff.

Yermak was forced out of the administration after Ukraine’s Western-backed anti-corruption agencies, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office (SAPO), raided his properties last month. The raids came as a part of a probe into a $100 million graft scheme allegedly linked to Zelensky’s inner circle.

Ukrainian media reports have suggested Umerov himself was linked to the crime ring led by Timur Mindich, a former business associate of Zelensky who managed to flee Ukraine hours before his properties were searched.

In recent weeks, Umerov has visited the US multiple times, meeting President Donald Trump’s top envoy, Steve Witkoff, as well as holding several closed-door talks with FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino. These conversations were not related to the Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian outlet Zerkalo Nedeli reported on Saturday, citing sources.

Umerov, who was accompanied by deputy chief of the Ukrainian Security Service (SBU), Aleksandr Poklad, asked the FBI chief to abstain from providing NABU with expert, investigative, or any other assistance, according to the outlet.

It was not immediately clear what exactly Umerov offered in exchange for disrupting the anti-graft probe and whether the FBI leadership accepted his proposals. The US administration was not exactly pleased when it learned about the true nature of the Umerov-Patel contacts, according to the outlet.

The fresh report echoed a recent piece by the Washington Post that suggested the secrecy around the Umerov-Patel contacts “has caused alarm” among Western officials. While some of the Post’s sources suggested the negotiations were related to the Ukraine conflict settlement, others claimed Umerov and his associates wanted to shield themselves from potential corruption allegations. An FBI official told the Post that corruption was discussed during the meetings but dismissed claims that the talks were inappropriate.

Rebels still occupying captured DR Congo city – president

M23 fighters remain in Uvira and its surroundings despite reports of their departure, Felix Tshisekedi has said

Congolese President Felix Tshisekedi has dismissed claims by the M23 rebel group that its forces have completely withdrawn from the city of Uvira in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo), which it captured earlier this month.

Tshisekedi made the statement on Sunday during a regional summit held by the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), where leaders met to address the deteriorating security situation in the Central African country.

“The alleged withdrawal of AFC/M23 from Uvira corresponds neither to the facts nor to field observations,” he said, according to a statement shared on social media by his office.

M23 fighters seized the strategic city on Lake Tanganyika, close to the Burundi border, on December 10, just days after Tshisekedi and his Rwandan counterpart, Paul Kagame, signed a deal in Washington aimed at ending three decades of armed conflict in DR Congo’s mineral-rich east.

Last week, Corneille Nangaa, leader of the rebel coalition Congo River Alliance (AFC), which includes M23, announced that the group “will unilaterally withdraw its forces from the city of Uvira as per the United States mediation’s request.”

He called the move a “trust-building measure” intended to give peace efforts, including an agreement signed in Doha earlier this year, “the maximum chance to succeed in providing lasting solutions to the conflict.”

However, Tshisekedi told regional leaders that armed elements remained “in the city and its immediate surroundings,” with “strategic positions” still occupied and civilians exposed to abuses.

“The credibility of any peace process rests on verifiable actions, not on statements of convenience,” he said.

The president also reiterated Kinshasa’s longstanding demand that Rwandan forces leave Congolese territory.

“What we expect is not a redeployment or a tactical displacement, but the effective, complete and unequivocal withdrawal of Rwandan troops from the entire territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” he said, citing existing commitments and international resolutions.

Rwanda has repeatedly denied backing M23, despite accusations from DR Congo, the United Nations and several Western governments.
