President Nana Addo Danquah Akufo Addo has underscored the government's commitment to developing a robust and sustainable mining industry to be able to develop Ghana's Mining Sector.

"By best investing in education, the skills development of the citizens means we are laying a solid foundation for the future of our country. It is in line with it that the government upon assumption of office took a bold decision to put the dividends of mineral resources into a fund named Mineral Income Investment Fund (MIIF) so that mineral royalties can be put to good use for the benefit of its citizens", he said.

According to the President, skills development of every nation is critical for its development hence his vision to support the technical and vocational education sector in the country. President Akufo Addo made these remarks during a sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the MIIF technical training center at the University of mines and technology at Tarkwa in the Western Region.

President Akufo Addo again stressed the need to develop the ecosystem and raise funds owned and managed by Ghanaians in the mining sector so that the nation will put its destiny in its own hands to build the economy.

Deputy minister of lands and natural resources and member of Parliament for Tarkwa Insuaem constituency, HON. GEORGE MIREKU DUKER, who was also in attendance, stated that the government has been vindicated because of the tussle at Parliament by the minority during the passage of the mineral income investment fund but now the benefit is evident for every Ghanaian to witness.
