Overeating Can Cause Hiatal Hernia – Health Practitioner

Chief Executive Officer of Healthy Soul Medical Center, Dr Daniel Owusu Ansah in an interview on Kantanka TV’s Fontomfrom Morning Show has revealed that, overeating can cause hiatal hernia.

Hiatal hernia occurs when the upper part of the stomach bulges through the large muscle separating your abdomen and chest (diaphragm).

The diaphragm has a small opening (hiatus) through which your food tube (esophagus) passes before connecting to the stomach. In an interview with Abena Kyei Boakye, he explained that overeating can cause hiatal hernia since the stomach pushes up through that small opening (hiatus) and into the chest.

According to Dr. Ansah, hiatal hernia may result in regurgitation which is the action of bringing swallowed food up again to the mouth, and also feeling full soon after eating.

He advised that, the only solution to this problem is to conduct a surgery. He then entreated everyone to eat well to avoid any health danger.
