The Spanish Paralympic Committee has joined the growing global chorus celebrating Samson Deen’s emphatic re-election as President of the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC), applauding his “inspiring leadership” and reaffirming Spain’s commitment to deeper Europe–Africa cooperation in para sports.
In a message signed by Fernando Riaño, Executive Committee member and candidate for the IPC Governing Board, Spain commended President Deen for steering a unified and progressive African para sport movement, highlighting his pivotal role in the successful organization of the 2025 AfPC General Assembly in Accra, Ghana.
Riaño described Deen’s stewardship as a model of unity, inclusion, and empowerment, adding that Spain’s support extends beyond words. He emphasized Madrid’s readiness to strengthen cross-continental collaborations that elevate para-athletes, expand development initiatives, and amplify the voice of African nations within the global Paralympic community.
“From Spain, we remain committed to building bridges between Europe and Africa,” the statement noted. “We will advocate for the interests of African nations, reflecting our strong commitment to the Global South.”
With the IPC elections scheduled for November 20, the Spanish Paralympic Committee expressed optimism for President Deen’s backing, underscoring how sustained cooperation between the two regions can reshape the future of global para sports.
