His message, shared during the African Paralympic Committee (AfPC) General Assembly in Accra, went beyond routine remarks,becoming a passionate tribute to Africa’s resilience and an announcement of a major new phase of global cooperation.

Rahimov praised Africa as “the strength of spirit, the power of unity, and the warmth of people who move forward even when the path is not easy,” framing the continent as a rising force in international blind sports.

A New Milestone: IBSA Africa Office Fully Operational

In one of the most significant developments, Rahimov confirmed that the IBSA Africa Office is now officially operational, a landmark step designed to elevate African voices, expand sporting opportunities, and accelerate growth across all countries on the continent.

He stressed that IBSA’s partnership with AfPC is “not bureaucracy but a shared promise to build a stronger future,” applauding AfPC President Samson Deen for his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment.

2026 IBSA African Games Set to Make History

Looking ahead, he announced that the 2026 IBSA African Games will serve as a historic celebration of unity, pride, and opportunity, especially for young athletes preparing to compete on the continental stage.

New Mentorship, Development Partnerships Announced

Rahimov also unveiled:

A series of mentorship and solidarity programmes for athletes and coaches

A new partnership between AIDA (Azerbaijan’s development agency) and IBSA focused on training, equipment, and capacity building across Africa

The creation of IBSA’s first-ever Athletes’ Council, chaired by Kenyan athlete Sella, representing “all who train, dream, win, and inspire the world.”

Closing his message on an inspiring note, Rahimov reminded the world of Africa’s global influence:
