The Ghana Private Road Transport Union (GPRTU) has issued a notice that it will take strong punitive action against its member organizations at the various lorry parks across the country who fail to impress on their drivers to observe and enforce the COVID-19 preventive protocols.

The Union, considering how the deadly virus has surged in recent times has admonished all passengers to adhere to COVID-19 protective mechanisms outlined by the officialdom of this country in order to curb the pandemic. They went on to indicate that among other sanctions, in accordance to the constitution of the GPRTU, stakeholders who flout the directive will stand the risk of losing their right to work at their various stations for over a month.

According to the union, upon implementing the ‘no mask no passengers and no mask no entry’ policies, the various ‘lorry stations’ have seen a level of decorum and sanity, hence this approach.
