ROAD SAFETY POLICY REVIEW TO ADEQUATELY ASSESS ROADS – HENRY ASOMANI
Senior Manager at the Ghana Road Safety Authority, Henry Asomani has said on Kantanka TV that, the National Road Safety Authority Policy Review as established by the Ghana Road Safety Authority is aimed at coordinating, regulating activities and procedures and standards related to road safety.
According to him as the lead public agency for road safety, the Road Safety Authority provides requisite direction and collaborates with agencies and departments responsible for road designs, driver licensing and recruitment, driver training programmers, road transport services, among others in the interest of public safety.
He added that this policy will allow the assessment of bad road construction, inadequate driver training programs, unreliable public transport systems and indigent vehicles that cause accidents on the roads.
“Over the years, the Authority has compiled a series of data strategically requiring a number of public or private institutions to implement existing road safety standards, procedures and policies designed to reduce road fatalities and injuries”, he mentioned.
Henry Asomani nonetheless indicated that the Road Safety Authority is planning to use an advanced form of technology to reduce fatal accidents and all bad behavior of drivers, pedestrians and passengers on the roads.
He made this known in an interview with Alhaji Irbard Ibrahim on Ghana’s favourite morning show, ‘Fontomfrom’ on Kantanka TV.
