HUMAN LIFESTYLE IS THE MAIN CAUSE OF DIABETES-HEALTH EXPERT DISCLOSES
Type 2 diabetes is a chronic condition that affects the way the body metabolizes sugar (glucose), an important source of fuel for the body. With type 2 diabetes, the body either resists the effects of insulin, a hormone that regulates the movement of sugar into human cells or does not produce enough insulin to maintain normal glucose levels.
Type 2 diabetes used to be known as adult-onset diabetes, but today more children are being diagnosed with the disorder, probably due to the rise in childhood obesity. Losing weight, eating well and exercising can help manage the disease naturally.
In this regard, the Chief Executive Officer of Soul Health and Wellness Centre, Nana Okogyedom Ntim Barima has said on Monday’s edition of ‘Fontomfrom’ morning show on Kantanka TV that, the current human lifestyle is the cause of type 2 diabetes in Ghana.
“Some of such lifestyles could trigger human health if proper meal is not taken at the right time to manage the blood sugar well”, he added. According to him, to devoid of type 2 diabetes in the human body, one must eat dietary material rich in fibre such as fruits, oats and fish as a substitute to meat and avoid the consumption of fatty foods, flour meals, meat and cow milk.
