ADWOA SAFO COMMISSION FOUR SCHOOLS IN THE GA EAST MUNICIPALITY.
The Minister of State in charge of Public Procurement and Member of Parliament (MP) for Dome_Kwabenya constituency ,Hon. lawyer Adwoa Safo,has commissioned four (4) classroom blocks in the Ga East Municipality.
Taifa Community Basic School ,Kwabenya Atomic M/A 1&2 Kindergarten, Ashongman Presbyterian Basic 2&3 Kindergarten and Abokobi Presbyterian ‘2’ School have been grappling with inadequate classrooms, congestions and other teaching and learning facilities over the years, since most parents within the respective communities and beyond desire to have their wards in the said schools due to their academic prowess.
This has vastly contributed to the over population of the various schools, prompting the school authorities to take different measures to help the situation,however,their nightmare and grave concern of eliminating these problems have been unsuccessful ,owing to the ever increasing population.
These projects, upon completion, is expected to ease the congestion and the over crowding situation of the various schools and enhance academic performances of the students.
Large number of persons including traditional leaders ,religious leaders, Assembly Members, residents, New Patriotic Party (NPP) faithfuls and teachers assembled at the respective schools to witness and partake in the ceremonies for the projects.
Addressing the gathering ,Hon. Adowa safo, noted that,”she is filled with satisfaction and upon The completion of the project marks a beginning of an end of suffering during class hours”.
She went on to highlight on the commitment of the government to enhance academics in the country . Touching on the free senior high school policy,she explained that ,about 90,000 students have been enrolled into senior high schools and the goal of the policy is to guarantee the minimum education of the senior high school level and to help children escape poverty and be provided with an avenue for a good life.
She continued by commending the contractors for completing the projects on time and ensuring a quality work. Adding that, the municipality is grateful to the president ,the GetFund Administration and the entire Education Ministry.
The Municipal Director of Education for Ga East Municipality ,Madam Bernice Ofori ,expressed her content for the commissioning of the projects ,since these will curb the flooding in classrooms during rainy seasons ,absenteeism and truancy. She ended her address, stating that ,the Ghana Education service (GES) together with the teachers of the various schools pledges to take very good care of the facilities in order to reap the full benefits.
The Municipal Chief Executive,Mrs Janet Koranteng also expressed her joy concerning the commissioning of the facilities.She went on to say that, “the bold steps taken by the government are a clear demonstration of the commitment of the President to make education the backbone of the economy of Ghana” ,she finally appealed to the Ministry of Education to assist the Municipality construct fence walls around the public basic schools to boost security.
The headmaster of the Abokobi Presbyterian 2, Mr. Sam Kwakye in the stead of the management and pupils of the school praised the Member of parliament and the government as a whole on the completion of the project.
